What are the site requirements?

Set backs and ground preparation are determined by your township based on the size structure you chose. American Sheds requires a minimum of 2ft clearance around the building in order for the installer to work properly. A minimum of 4ft is required if your shed is 12ft wide or more. A 2ft clearance must be allowed overhead for shingle application. 
 
Site preparation such as stone bed, slab, excavation, pruning and or clearing of your site must be done prior to the installation day. Installer will level (no excavation), up to 6 inches at no extra charge. Moisture resistant materials are used unless the customer supplies patio blocks. To determine how many patio blocks are required contact you local dealer or sales office.
 
Access to the property must be through a gate or yard. A carry fee will be applied for carries greater than 125 ft. Walking through a home or across the street is not considered access and will also entail an extra fee.

Do I need to be home?

Yes. A morning phone call will be placed between 7:30 & 8:30 by the installer. At that time the installer will review your order, get directions and give an approximate time of their arrival. When the installer arrives, the customer will need to show him the installation site, location of the door, windows and any options that were purchased. Installer will require an electrical outlet to plug into which can be no further than 150 ft from the installation site. The installer will provide an extension cord. For distances further than 150 ft, a generator is required. Customer must make arrangements in advance to have a generator available for the installer prior to his arrival.
In the event of inclement weather, arrangements will be made with customer for the next available schedule day.

Will someone come out to inspect my yard prior to my schedule date?

No, there is no pre-site inspection. Customers may direct any concerns or questions to the main office at 856-728-5561.

What type of paint should I use?

You will need to paint your shed with a exterior latex paint. Doors need to be painted on both sides including the 4 edges. Painting must be done within 60 days of your install; failure to do so may void your warranty. Siding comes pre-primed, ready to paint. Primer color cannot be selected.
 
Do I need a permit?

Customer must check with their local authorities to determine if a permit is required. It is the customer’s sole responsibility for complying with any rules, laws and or regulations. The State of New Jersey requires a 4" stone bed for any building larger than 100 square feet. Please check with your local town for exact requirements. American Sheds will provide you with any licenses or schematics the town will require.

How long does it take?

Disregarding any unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, buildings are completed on the day scheduled. Larger buildings such as some 16 wides may take 2 days or more.
